National Junior Meetings

If your Junior is 8 years old or older, we want to see them at a national Junior meeting! We’re going to meet new friends, do a service project for caregivers, and have tons of fun! The meetings are on a Saturday, one in each ALA division. We can’t wait to see your Junior there!

Is the Junior meeting right for your Junior?

  • Yes - if they are interested in meeting other Junior members and national leaders outside of their local area who share their passion for helping veterans!
  • Yes - if they want to share great ideas with other Junior members across the country and learn more about what it means to be a member of the American Legion Auxiliary!

Five ALA Mission Trainings and national Junior meetings are planned. They will be held at the same time and locations throughout the winter and spring.

What’s happening in the 2025-2026 national Junior meetings?

  • Hats for Heroes — a service project developed by ALA National President Pam Ray to give personal hygiene products and other needs stuffed inside a knitted hat to give to homeless veterans. This will be a relay race between Junior teams to see who can fill their hats the fastest. National American Legion Auxiliary Junior Activities Committee division chairs will distribute the hats to homeless veteran shelters and/or the VA.
  • Receiving A Life of Service: The Story of Senator Tammy Duckworth book about a U.S Army veteran with many firsts in Congress.
  • Little Liberty the ALA Gnome — These gnomes are reminders of Americanism and patriotism. Juniors will receive these gnomes and are encouraged to pass them out to a friend, hide them for others to find, or whatever other creative idea they can think of to share the message of Americanism and patriotism.
  • Learning the Pledge of Allegiance in American Sign Language.
  • Doing crafts, such as decorating birthday hats for America’s 250th and beaded keychains. Juniors can spell out their name, “ALA Juniors,” “Legion Family,” “SAL,” or anything else appropriate on these keychains.
  • Listening to local VA speakers to learn about the VA and how to support veterans.
  • Receiving the 2025-2026 Junior patch as part of the ALA Juniors Patch Program.
  • Receiving the 2025-2026 national Junior meetings T-shirt designed by a Junior in the National Junior Meeting T-Shirt Design Contest.
  • Playing VA and VA Volunteer Services-themed Kahoot game.
