The American Legion Auxiliary is fortunate to have so many good members who donate their time and money to the ALA so that we can serve our ever-meaningful mission. We at ALA National Headquarters appreciate all that you do!
Since World War I, the United States has been involved in six wars. We’re currently in our longest war, the War on Terror, now in its 16th year. With 22 million veterans and 1.5 million U.S. military personnel, the American Legion Auxiliary is needed today more than ever, and collectively, our members have an outstanding record of serving our mission!
Who we are: The American Legion Auxiliary is the world’s largest women’s patriotic service organization – the auxiliary organization to the largest U.S. wartime veterans service organization, The American Legion.
What we do: ALA members in communities across the USA and around the world serve our mission by donating and raising money, gathering and distributing donated items, and volunteering to help veterans, our military, and their families. We’ve being doing what we do well, for a century.
Why we matter: The ALA matters because what we do has a $2 billion impact serving our mission every year. We fulfill our purpose: volunteering millions of hours, raising/awarding millions of dollars, promoting patriotism and good citizenship, and selflessly making life better for those we aim to help.
Our mission: In the spirit of Service Not Self, the mission of the American Legion Auxiliary is to support The American Legion and honor the sacrifice of those who serve by enhancing the lives of veterans, military, and their families, both at home and abroad. For God and country, we advocate for veterans, educate our citizens, mentor youth, and promote patriotism, good citizenship, peace and security.
The United States has been at war somewhere, within and beyond our borders, for more than 90 percent of our country’s 241 years of existence. Certainly, the ALA’s volunteerism is needed today. Advocating for our veterans and promoting patriotism, peace, and security are all important tenets of our mission. Every hour of an ALA member’s time, every dues paid, every dollar and item donated – it ALL matters because our mission matters. The ALA matters. Each member matters. We serve a big need and we have a big impact – all because of what volunteers do. You make a difference!
MANY THANKS, American Legion Auxiliary rock star volunteers! Your volunteer service is invaluable and greatly appreciated. On behalf of each of us at ALA National Headquarters, thank you for serving our Auxiliary mission throughout the year, every year.
