Peace and grace to you on this National Day of Prayer.

Any time there is a natural disaster, a tragedy, or some significant event, our natural reaction is to reach out to our loved ones to ensure they are safe and well. So, we pick up the phone and dial the number. We hear one of two things — “all circuits are busy, please try your call later,” or we get voicemail — “I cannot come to the phone right now, leave a message, and I will call you back.”

Have you ever stopped to think when we want to talk to God, we do not get busy signals or voicemail — we have a direct line? You will never find God too busy to talk to you. He never reschedules your conversation to a later date. You have the utmost priority with Him, and He always has time for you. The question is, do we make time for Him?

Since we have a direct line to God, how often do we use it? He is always available, never too busy, and delights when we talk to Him. Unlike your cell phone plan, you will never exceed your minutes when you talk with God. Spend a few moments with God and see what He has to tell you. It might surprise you.
