The American Legion Auxiliary has a unique relationship with the Wreaths Across America program. Many American Legion Auxiliary members and their families have participated in the December program of laying wreaths at our servicemembers’ gravesites. BUT… did you know there is even more to this amazing organization?
The Wreaths Across America organization has a comprehensive K-12 curriculum developed to empower ALA volunteers, educators, and youth leaders to share a legacy of honor and remembrance. The curriculum is free and helps students explore American history through the lens of military service. Lessons emphasize character development, leadership, respect, and the importance of civic responsibility. It provides ready-to-use lesson plans, discussion guides, activities, and multimedia resources and service-learning opportunities.
The curriculum aligns directly with the ALA’s mission of serving veterans, military, and their families, and assuring no veteran is forgotten. It also offers resources to bring to your local schools, units, and youth groups.

In the spirit of Service, Not Self, the mission of the American Legion Auxiliary is to support The American Legion and to honor the sacrifice of those who serve by enhancing the lives of our veterans, military, and their families, both at home and abroad. For God and Country, we advocate for veterans, educate our citizens, mentor youth, and promote patriotism, good citizenship, peace and security.
